“The trainee lawyer diaries: EP1 all-access firm tour”
Eve Cornwell is currently a trainee solicitor in Linklaters and has been invited by Linklaters to share her experience and insights about her journey in being a BigLaw solicitor.
She has been struggling with self-doubt and paranoid perfectionism for a few years. A better word for that is “Imposter Syndrome” i.e. a physiological pattern in which an individual doubts their accomplishments and has a persistent internalised fear of being exposed as a “fraud”. It bites her when she gets an answer wrong in class or everyone else seems to know the answer but she doesn’t.
The way of thinking that works on her, *it is not a cure for everyone*, is that she redefines her success. She knows that her strength does not lie inside the classroom. She is not an academic person but she is really good at people. She can also be very creative and determined.
